　元世界銀行チーフエコノミスト、経済開発担当副総裁。
　1997年に40才以下の若手経済学者の業績に対して与えられるジョン・ベイツ・クラーク賞を
　受賞。将来のノーベル経済学賞候補者の1人とされている。
